For over 33 years, HRS has been recognized as the experienced leader when it comes to offering successful solutions for thousands of men and women facing the challenge of their own personal hair loss and hair preservation problems. We have serviced many clients by preserving the hair they had remaining and restoring the hair they had lost. While everyone's individual situation varies, there are answers for everyone. HRS of Atlanta is the most experienced name in Hair Restoration.

I feel most fortunate to remain a strong, guiding force in refining and re-focusing the transplant solutions since the early 1980s. Hair transplantation is a combination of science and artistry. The science consists of methodology to move hair from one area of the scalp, the donor area, to the area of need.
Hair loss is caused by the presence of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a by-product of the testosterone hormone, in the scalp. Due to genetics, some men (and women) are unable to break down and eliminate this by-product. For some reason, the hair follicles on the front and middle of the scalp can be rendered incapable of producing new hair due to the effects of DHT. However, DHT has no effect on the hair follicles that results in the scalps back and sides.
So the science of hair transplantation is to move surgically move the DHT-resistant hair follicles from the scalps back and sides to the hairline and mid-scalp area. These follicles will continue to produce healthy, growing hair, despite the presence of DHT.
The artistry of hair transplants is based on how the transplanted hair is applied. In the infancy of hair transplantation, the idea was to take as many hair follicles as possible from the donor area in the back and sides of the scalp, and to surgically move them to the hairline and mid-scalp areas.
However, normal hair does not grow in clumps. It grows in units of one to three hairs from individual follicles in close proximity to each other. As hair transplants developed through the past three decades, smaller amounts of hair follicles could be moved from the donor area to the in need areas. The smaller the number of hair follicles, the more natural the appearance of the growing hair.
With the advent of this capability, the artistry of hair transplantation came to the forefront, i.e., the pattern and spacing of the new transplanted hair, particularly in the front hairline. This placement, which in fact is a random positioning of the hair follicles, is the key to a hairline that is un-detectable from an original hairline.

What steps are necessary to make the capability to extract smaller amounts of hair follicles relevant to the naturalness of a transplants look?
F.U.E. or Follicular-Unit Extraction is an advanced, minimally-invasive hair transplant method which allows for the harvesting of individual follicles from the donor area without a scalpel incision or the necessary stitches, and therefore leaves no linear scar. The difference between FUE and a linear incision harvest techniques is not in the area of hair growth, but how the donor area is harvested either by a strip of scalp or by small individual graft extractions. With the FUE process, the patient has the luxury of wearing a very short haircut without worrying about how the scars on the back of the head, where a linear harvest usually occurs. Without the need for stitches, downtime is shorter with fewer activity restrictions immediately after the procedure.

This will be a very intense therapeutic process that will aggressively address your hair loss issues.

We will start you off with 2 minutes of a medicated scalp massage. This will increase relaxation, decrease stress, loosen the scalp and prepare you for the rest of your therapeutic session.
Low Light Laser Therapy Phase 1:
We will begin your therapy with 30 minutes of
Laser.
Benefits:
Laser therapy is being used as a hair loss treatment
to treat baldness. It also stops excessive DHT
(dihydrotestosterone) and hair shedding. Laser rays
are directly applied to the scalp by a mechanical
device so that red blood cells are stimulated by 54% after only one treatment. For hair applications, the first and most significant condition in choosing laser wavelength is depth penetration, which should be sufficient to target hair follicles typically resting at a 5-6 mm-depth.
How it works:
Lasers works by converting ATP (adenosine triphosphate) to ADP (adenosine diphosphate), releasing energy and causing cellular metabolic changes.
During this process, additional nutrients and oxygen are provided to the scalp assisting the normal chemical processes performed by those cells, increasing overall scalp microcirculation, blood circulation to follicle area and to stimulate the hair organ (nerves, muscles and growth centers of the hair follicle) Improves hair

Tesla Therapy Phase 2:
5 minutes of Tesla Therapy (High Frequency Current)
A high frequency current that stimulates the surface of the scalp by means of massaging the cells of the scalp.
Also supposed to improve the process of nourishment, stimulate local blood circulation, stimulate local glandular activity, supplies heat and is soothing to the nervous system of the scalp.
A tremendous amount of interest was generated in America when results of a 1991 clinical trial were published.
The trial consisted of 30 people all suffering from
male and female pattern baldness. All the volunteers were subjected to minute amounts of electrical stimulation.
Of the 30 participants who took part in the six
months trial 29 either grew hair or experienced no further hair loss.
The reason given for these exceptional results is
as follows:
In male and female pattern baldness one of the first signs of hair loss is nerve degeneration. For example, if you pull a single hair from the back or side of the scalp it can be quite painful.
However, if you repeat the process by removing a hair from areas affected by male and female pattern baldness you are unlikely to feel anything at all. That is because the nerve is likely to have degenerated to such a degree that there is no longer any feeling when the hair is removed.
It has been well established by biomedical scientists that wounded bone and soft body tissue repair respond to electrical stimulation.

Get off at Exit 88 Lenox Road and turn Right at the bottom of the exit ramp. Turn Left at the first traffic light and then Bear Right at the sign that says Sidney Marcus Blvd./Piedmont Road Sydney Marcus dead-ends at Piedmont Road where you will turn Right. We are located about one mile on the Right side of Piedmont at 3121.
ON I-75 GOING SOUTH: (From Cobb County Suburbs)
Get off at Exit 255 West Paces Ferry Road and turn Left at the bottom of the exit ramp. You will be on Paces Ferry, which is about 3 miles, dead-end Piedmont Road. Turn Left onto Piedmont Road and youll see us about 2/10ths of a mile up on the Right side of Piedmont at 3121

At HRS of Atlanta, we are all aware of the differences between the hair found in African-American and European-American people. There's the difference in the texture and wave pattern - African-American hair tends to be very coarse and either coiled or kinked - and in color - African-American hair tends to be black (with only rare variations). However, few people who aren't African-American realize that there are less visible differences.
African-American hair (we'll call it ethnic hair for the purposes of our discussion here) also tends to be porous, which means that moisture easily passes through the cuticle layer of the hair. You see, since ethnic hair tends to be coarse, the cuticle layer of the hair shaft tends to be raised, which means that even though it can readily absorb moisture it also loses moisture easily. Because of this, ethnic hair needs more assistance to stay healthy.
Where European hair can benefit from an occasional oil treatment, it can quickly become oversaturated by oils and be left dull and flat. However, Ethnic hair needs these oils to protect the hair. In fact, history shows us that oils were a daily part of the hair care process among the citizens of ancient Egypt (dating as far back as 3000 years ago). The oils provide a sealing barrier to hold in the hair's moisture, and keep it soft and manageable.
Common Ethnic Hair Issues:
With over 33 years of experience in treating Ethnic hair, HRS of Atlanta has learned that the number one problem faced by African American women with Ethnic hair is breakage. (60% of black women identified breakage as their number one problem). Approximately 80% of black women use some method to straighten their hair. These can range from chemical processes like relaxers and soft-curl perms to the use of heat-styling appliances like irons and blow-dryers.
Other Ethnic Hair Hazards:
We have found another chemical process that can seriously damage Ethnic hair is coloring.
